I ended up being unable to run a wire out the same exit hole as the factory dial wires (no space left in the channel). So I cut a new hole into the main chamber of the stalk, underneath where the rubber boot will cover, and will run my led wires out that.
Here I used a peice of solid core wire as a fish tape, which took forever to get through to the right spot.
